The laboratory was started when the hospital began operation. It continues to function as a hospital laboratory serving the specialists who run the clinics as well as the in-patients under their care. Together with this are the patients who come to accidents and emergency as well as those who come under the category of "walk-in" patients. There are also patients on dialysis who need either regular or periodic monitoring for their underlying medical conditions.
A substantial bulk of the workload is general laboratory health screen for the public and foreign workers seeking employment.
The laboratory also offers "profile screening" e.g. Aaemia, Antenatal, Arthritis, Cardiac, Lipid, hypertension, Liver, Renal, Thyroid, Hormonal studies, the tumour markers, to mention a few.
Hence, the laboratory offers services in Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Blood Transfusion and Immunology and is fully equipped with the most up to date laboratory equipment. There is also the daily monitoring as checks for quality control.
The technical staff who do the work are fully qualified and experienced and the majority are degree holders in Medical Laboratory technology. As a hospital laboratory the service offered is for twenty four hours, seven days a week including Public Holidays.
We aim to offer efficient, prompt and reliable services to the satisfaction of both doctors and patients.
